Memories And Qualities

My grandpa was a nice man. His name was Huseyin Uzun. Everybody knew him and he had a big family. He owned many places. He had a car shop and he also owned a jewelry store. My grandpa was loved by everyone. He was funny and always smiling. He liked to watch the news and drink lots of tea. Sometimes he would walk around the neighborhood. My family would visit him every summer. Though, we haven't been able to go to Turkey in 2 and a half years.

One memory I have with my grandpa was when we were at our apple house in Sivas, Turkey. My brother and I were playing with his toy guitar that played Tarkans songs if you pressed on a button. My grandpa was watching us play and he was watching the news. My grandpa watched the news a lot. He would work a lot and when he came home he would turn on the television and he would watch the news and drink tea. My grandma would always make yummy foods and we would eat together.

Another memory I have with my grandpa is that every time we would call him he would
always respond in a funny voice saying” Dedişko”. My brother and I would call him that. We started calling him that when we were a bit younger and the name stuck. I remember a time when my grandpa took us to buy toys. My brother always wanted to buy a bibi gun. So, my grandpa did. My mom was not too happy but my grandpa did not care. My grandpa would tell us stories of his jobs. He told us he was a policeman and that he had a gun. He also told us he was in the army, and he also said that he was in a band. My grandpa would sometimes play his drums.

My grandpa would sleep on our swing in our front yard a lot. I and my brother would wake him up. When I was really young my grandpa owned a car shop and my brother would go in the cars and play. We would pretend like we were driving. Sometimes my grandpa would drive us around in the cars. Every week or so we would have a different car in the garage.

My grandpa had a big family. He has an older stepbrother that I called buyuk dede. When I was in Sivas I met his sister. My mom and brother also went to my grandpa's parents house. My grandpa was a very caring person. He was honest and open-minded. My grandpa was tall and he looked pretty young for his age.

I am wearing my grandpa’s last gift for me. It was a snowflake necklace. I couldn’t received from him. My mom brought this after he passed away....

These are some of my memories with my grandpa. We would visit Turkey over the summer. It was always really fun. When we would land in Turkey my grandpa was always there to take us home. My grandpa always smiled and was really funny. My grandpa liked taking a nap, watching the news, and making my brother and I happy.
